The All Progressives Congress was quick to lay the blame for the disruption of the latest rally at the doorsteps of President Goodluck Jonathan, his supporters, the Peoples Democratic Party and the police.

In a statement on Sunday, the APC said that Jonathan’s sympathisers are pushing Nigeria to the
precipice, alleging that the attackers were PDP-sponsored and police-backed.

The statement, signed by the APC’s Interim National Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, alleged that while the attack was going on, the police, who had been formally informed of the rally and were expected to provide protection, instead gave the hoodlums a free rein, in the most egregious and open display of partisanship by an institution of the state saddled with ensuring the protection of lives and property of all citizens.

The APC said the police carried its partisanship to another level when, the previous day (Saturday), it sent over 300 men to protect a pro-PDP rally that was used solely to launch a blistering verbal assault on the APC and Governor Chibuike Amaechi.
The same police have offered protection for a Pro-PDP group, GDI, which is holding another rally in Degema on Sunday.

It added: “Today’s (Sunday’s) attack came a week after a similar one saw a Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Magnus Abe, shot by policemen who also attacked and tear-gassed innocent women and children, among others.

“As the presidency-backed impunity in Rivers worsens, we at the APC are left with no choice than to alert all well-meaning Nigerians as well as the international Community to call President Jonathan to order, since he has refused to allow peace to reign in the state just because of his personal ambition.
“Because of the danger this state-backed thuggery can inflict on our young democracy; because of the harm being done to the polity by escalating political violence; and because of the fact that impunity does not breed peace, we will continue to cry out, hoping that reason will prevail and that President Jonathan will no longer allow his ambition to be watered by the blood of the same citizens he swore an oath to protect.

“It is clear that despite the presidency’s loud silence on the Rivers crisis, it is the architect of the violence in the state, and the 2014 Ekiti and Osun governorship elections and the 2015 general elections are the reasons. That is why we will not relent in blaming the presidency for the violence. Surely, when the presidency is tired of violence, peace will return to Rivers State.”

He was visiting North Korea, one of the worlds’s most isolated and unpredictable states, as a tourist when he was pulled off an Air Koryo flight in Pyongyang minutes before it was due to depart for Beijing on October 26.

A senior Obama administration official said the Swedish embassy in Pyongyang had been “heroic” in its efforts to get to see Newman but he suggested it was ultimately a mystery why the North Koreans chose to release him.

“Who knows? We can only speculate,” said the official, who spoke on condition of anonymity.
The official added that “all efforts are now on (Kenneth) Bae,” referring to another U.S. citizen being detained by North Korea since November 2012.

Bae, a Korean American who worked as a Christian missionary, was convicted by North Korea in May of crimes against the state. He has been serving a 15-year hard-labor sentence.
U.S. Vice President Joe Biden, who is visiting South Korea, spoke with Newman after his release.

“It’s a positive thing they have done, but they have Mr. Bae, who has no reason being held in the North and should be released immediately and we are going to continue to demand his release as well,” Biden said.

Separately, a State Department spokeswoman declined comment on Newman’s well-being and treatment in North Korea, referring such questions to his family.

Asked by reporters in San Francisco how the food was during his detention, Newman replied, “healthy,” but he declined to answer other questions about his stay.
Asked if he would return to North Korea, he said: “Probably not.”

Newman served during the 1950-53 Korean War and worked with Korean anti-Communist guerrillas fighting behind the lines against the socialist North.
The Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK), as the country is officially called, has called him a war criminal.

“He masterminded espionage and subversive activities against the DPRK and in this course he was involved in killings of service personnel of the Korean People’s Army and innocent civilians,” North Korea’s official KCNA news agency has said.

KCNA said Newman was released “taking into consideration his admittance of the act committed by him on the basis of his wrong understanding, apology made by him for it, his sincere repentance of it and his advanced age and health condition”.

The United States quickly welcomed North Korea’s decision to release Newman and called on Pyongyang to pardon Bae.

In Pasadena, California, Newman’s son, Jeffrey, said his father was “in excellent spirits and eager to be reunited with his family.”

“This is a great moment for us as a family and it will be even better when we are able to see him in a few hours,” Jeffrey Newman said, reading from a prepared statement. “After Merrill comes home and has a chance to get some well-deserved rest, we will have more to say about his unusual and difficult journey.”

Do you think the death of Nelson Mandela Played any roll in his release?

In the letter titled, “Before it is too late” that rather than take steps to advance Nigeria’s interest and up the standards of living of Nigerians, Mr. Jonathan had betrayed God and the Nigerian people that brought him to power, and has been pursuing selfish personal and political interests based on advice he receives from “self-centred aides”.

In the letter, Mr. Obasanjo lamented that Mr. Jonathan had become terribly divisive and clannish, destroying his own party, polarizing the country along regional and religious lines and ridiculing Nigeria in the comity of nations.

“It would be unfair to continue to level full blames on the Chairman (Tukur) for all that goes wrong with the party,” Mr. Obasanjo said. “The chairman is playing the tune dictated by the paymaster (Jonathan). But the paymaster is acting for a definitive purpose for which deceit and deception seem to be the major ingredients.”

“Up till two months ago, Mr. President, you told me that you have not told anybody that you would contest in 2015. I quickly pointed out to you that the signs and the measures on the ground do not tally with your statement. You said the same to one other person who shared his observation with me. And only a fool would believe that statement you made to me judging by what is going on. I must say it is not ingenious. You may wish to pursue a more credible and more honorable path.”

The former President said Mr. Jonathan told him before the 2011 election he would not seek a second term, and made the same promise to governors, party stakeholders and Nigerians.

The president’s refusal to keep that promise cast him as a man without honour, Mr. Obasanjo said.

Saying it would be “fatally morally flawed” for Mr. Jonathan to contest in 2015, Mr. Obasanjo added, “As a leader, two things you must cherish and hold dear among others are trust and honour both of which are important ingredients of character. I will want to see anyone in the Office of the Presidency of Nigeria as a man or woman who can be trusted, a person of honour in his words and character.”

Mr. Obasanjo also accused Mr. Jonathan of anti-party conducts – supporting opposition parties’ candidates in governorship elections in Lagos, Ondo, Edo and Anambra states at the detriment of PDP’s own candidates –, and of pitting party members against one another.

Saying the President had failed to address the underlying causes of the Boko Haram menace, Mr. Obasanjo urged Mr. Jonathan to adopt a carrot and stick approach in dealing with the insurgency explaining that “conventional military actions based on standard phases of military operations alone will not permanently and effectively deal with the issue of Boko Haram”.

Mr. Obasanjo also tackled Mr. Jonathan for allegedly being clannish. “For you to allow yourself to be “possessed”, so to say, to the exclusion of most of the rest of Nigerians as an “Ijaw man” is a mistake that should never have been allowed to happen. Yes, you have to be born in one part of Nigeria to be Nigerian if not naturalized but the Nigerian President must be above ethnic factionalism. And those who prop you up as of, and for ‘Ijaw nation’ are not your friends genuinely, not friends of Nigeria nor friends of “Ijaw nation” they tout about.

“To allow or tacitly encourage people of “Ijaw nation” to throw insults on other Nigerians from other parts of the country and threaten fire and brimstone to protect your interest as an Ijaw man is myopic and your not openly quieting them is even more unfortunate.

Two Ijaw men, ex-militant Mujahid Dokubo-Asari, and a former federal commissioner for information, Edwin Clark, who carries himself around as the political godfather of the president, are known to talk down on people opposed to the president.

Mr. Obasanjo also accused Mr. Jonathan of placing over 1000 Nigerians on political watch list and “training snipers and other armed personnel secretly and clandestinely acquiring weapons to match for political purposes like Abacha and training them where Abacha trained his killers”.

He wondered why the Presidency was providing assistance for a murderer to evade justice.

“Presidential assistance for a murderer to evade justice and presidential delegation to welcome him home can only be in bad taste generally but particularly to the family of his victim,” Mr. Obasanjo said. “Assisting criminals to evade justice cannot be part of the job of the presidency. Or, as it is viewed in some quarters, is he being recruited to do for you what he had done for Abacha in the past? Hopefully, he should have learned his lesson. Let us continue to watch.”

Mr. Obasanjo did not mention the name of the murderer he accused the President of protecting but he seems to be referring to Hamza Al-Mustapha, a former security aide to late Head of State, General Sani Abacha, who is facing trial for allegedly masterminding the killing of Kudirat Abiola, the wife of Moshood Abiola, the winner of the annulled 1993 presidential election.

Mr. Al-Mustapha was freed by the appeal court in July but the Lagos state government has since appealed the judgment at the Supreme Court.

The former President also called on the National Assembly to rise up and take decisive action over the recent allegation in the country that the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation failed to remit billions of dollars in proceeds of crude oil sales to the federation account.

“This allegation will not fly away by non-action, cover-up, denial or bribing possible investigators,” Mr. Obasanjo told the President. “Please deal with this allegation transparently and let the truth be known.”

“The dramatis personae in this allegation and who they are working for will one day be public knowledge. Those who know are watching if the National Assembly will not be accomplice in the heinous crime and naked grand corruption. May God grant you the grace for at least one effective corrective action against high corruption which seems to stink all around you in your government.”

Mr. Obasanjo said he wrote the letter in the national interest, saying nothing, at this stage of his life, would prevent him from standing up for whatever he considers to be in the best interest of Nigeria, Africa and the world.

He said he was ready for whatever backlash his letter would provoke from the presidency.

“Knowing what happens around you most of which you know of and condone or deny, this letter will proke cacophony from hired and unhired attackers but I will maintain my serenity because by this letter, I have done my duty to you as I have always done, to your government, to the party, PDP, and to our country, Nigeria…,” Mr. Obasanjo said.

“I have passed the stage of being flattered, intimidated, threatened, frightened, induced or bought… Death is the end of all human beings and may it come when God wills it to come.”

what's your opinion on this?
Standing outside, I met an old acquaintance, a young guy I met through a mutual friend. I found myself telling him about my plight and how I had been duped into paying for fake documents. I told him how my dad sold his plot of land to ensure I traveled. How was I going to tell them their money went down the drain?

He then told me the best thing was to tell them I got the visa, so when my dad sends money for my flight ticket, I use it to go to Malaysia. He said he had an agent who would help me and also give me a job once I get there. He said several guys had gone to Malaysia too.

I told my excited parents that I got the Visa and would need money for my flight.  I raised 600 thousand naira which was sent to the agent I had never met and was given a 1 month visa . I got to Malaysia expecting to see the agent but never did. It was 3 weeks, no job, and paying my hotel bill, I had exhausted all my money. The so-called agent I had been calling suddenly switched off his phone. It was one week to the expiration of my visa.

So I decided to step-out and find other Nigerians who could help me.I was unsuccessful as the two guys I knew way back in Nigeria were club bouncers and had no connections. Was shocked because they claimed to be big boys.

I was on my way back from one of my unsuccessful outings.I  was wondering what to do when a short Indian man intercepted me."Hello my friend  you looking for a job? I have a job for you.How will you like to earn 3 thousand dollars a month ? I was speechless"" He told me '"Lets go and have a drink and talk about it"
I was so happy..He took me to a spot not far from where we met.It was like a private house and I saw two other Black boys who the man introduced me to saying they were also beneficiaries of the job.I was just about to ask what the job was when a waiter brought me a drink and he told me to give him a minute to bring papers which would show me my job description.

I don't know what happened next .I found myself in an uncompleted building.I was confused at first and felt i was dreaming. But the cold was unbearable to be a mere dream and the sharp pain on the side of my belly was too intense to be real .I saw my shoes on the floor .I was confused. How did I get here? What about the job? Did I loose my chance by getting too drunk? Then I recalled I didn't drink alcohol.

I decided to put on my shoes when I noticed my legs were so swollen my shoes didn't size me anymore..

I left the place with no money in my pocket, didn't even know where I was.I tried to ask some Arabs to help but noone even listened to me. As I kept walking, I saw 2 security men and walked up to them. They were Nigerians and after telling them about my plight, they took pity on me and asked me to sleep in the factory where they worked for the night .They gave me some pain killers to relieve me.But advised me to go for a test the next day. The next day I told them I had no money to even go for a checkup and I was probably going to be deported as I had just one week for my visa to expire.

The elderly one told me there was a job opening as a life guard at some private beach. I couldn't be more grateful.

I took up the job but the reoccurring belly ache which I kept suppressing with pain killers was getting more intense.

Then after rescuing someone who almost drowned, the intense stress which accompanied that made me fall ill.And after several tests, they couldn't ascertain what was wrong with me.I had used up all the little money I earned from my job as a life guard and I had no option but to give myself up to the authorities so I could be deported since I couldn't pay for my flight ticket .

I returned to Nigeria seriously ill and my parents took me from one hospital to the other and they couldn't detect what was wrong with me.We went to several prayer houses even very popular miracle pastors who claimed it was evil people from my village chasing me.Destiny killers they said.I was ordered to fast for 21 days and four days later I collapsed .

Then my father ran into an old classmate who owned a hospital. He told him about my plight and he told my dad to bring me over.

He ordered a full scan to be run on me and while I was alone, he came to me and said" Young man, why did you have one of your kidney's removed?" I was shocked 'My Kidney? Sir I don't get". He smiled"At least if you want to have your kidney removed, do it well. You must have earned a few millions from it so what did you do with the money ? Why didn't you treat yourself properly?"""

I was confused and i insisted i knew nothing and he showed me the scan.Yes one kidney was missing. He also said the closure was perfectly done and skin was used to cover up the stitch. He said only Indians did such perfect cover-ups.After insisting there was a mistake somewhere ,the doctor said the fact was one of my kidneys was removed and he told me the dangers of selling my kidney which many Nigerian youths do these days to make quick cash

I was in tears and I told him I didn't know what he was talking about then I recalled the Indian man I met who told me he had a job for me .

It hit me that that man had me drugged and took me to an unknown place and had my kidney removed and then dumped me in that building.

Now I'm a 26 year old man who put my parents through hell and I'm now living on one kidney and very ill.I keep hoping this one doesn't develop a problem .I want youths to be careful of where they go to and who they interact with.I just found-out its a cartel and several African jobless youths have been trapped and have their kidneys removed without their knowledge ..

Somewhere ,someone is living on my kidney not knowing it was stolen....I wish that person well..It's a wicked world..

50 Cent began rapping in 1996 when he was 21 years.  He used a friend’s turntable to record his raps over instrumentals. In 1999, 50 Cent joined Columbia Records and grew substantially when he released an underground single dubbed “How to Rob”.

On 24th May 2000, armed thugs attacked and shot 50 Cent 9 times outside his grandparent’s house. Luckily, he didn’t die. He however suffered serious gunshot wounds on his face, legs, hands and chest. The incident left 50 Cent with a slurry voice as a result of the gunshot wound on his face.

In February 2003, Curtis Jackson released his 1st album” Get Richh or Die Tryin”. The album became an overnight success selling 872,000 copies 4 days after being released. The album had a number of hit singles the most popular one being ”In Da Club” which broke records i.e. a billboard No. 1 record. 50 cent later started G-unit Records where he signed 3 rappers namely; Tony Yayo, Young Buck and Lloyd Banks. 50 Cent also signed The Game jointly with Dre’s label; Aftermath.

Aside his huge success in music, 50 Cent has also had a successful acting career His first acting experience was in 2005 when he made an appearance on a Simpson’s episode called “Pranksta Rap.” The same year, 50 Cent starred in the movie”Get Rich Die Tryin”. Other movies/films, 50 cent has stared or featured in include; Home of Brave (2006), Righteous Kill (2008), freelancers (2012) and a reality show called Money and Power.
50 Cent has also provided voice over’s for a number of Video games namely; Bulletproof and Blood on Sand. In terms of business ventures, 50 Cent over the years has signed a number of deals with companies such as Reebok for his G-Unit Sneakers.

50 Cent has also been involved in profitable business ventures like the famous vitaminwater business venture that so him earn an estimated $100 million after taxes. 50 Cent also has a condom line known as Magic Stick Condoms. He also has two film companies; G-Unit films and Cheetah Vision formed in 2003 and 2008 respectively. Cheetah Vision is however his only active film company having raised $200 million to date in funding. 50 Cent is also a boxing promoter through his company TMT promotions. He has signed a number of boxers to date i.e. Yuriorkis Gamboa, Andre Dirrell and Billy Dib.

50 Cent is among the best rappers to ever live. He is currently on Forbes list of top 10 richest rappers of all times. Despite having some downfalls in his career i.e. rap”beef” with artists such as ja rule and fat joe, he has still tried to remain relevant to date. The future is very bright for 50 Cent.
