Can rehab be a remedy to Justin Bieber's excessive drugs abuse?

Buddies of Justin Bieber are reportedly urging the singer to go check himself into rehab for excessive drug abuse.

Multiple sources tell TMZ that the pint-size popstar has been using a drug cocktail known as sizzurp -- typically couch syrup containing codeine and promethazine mixed with Sprite – a dangerous narcotic that can trigger seizures.

He is also taking lots of prescription pills with alcohol and pot, the gossip site reports.

The revelation comes after police drugs thought to be cocaine in Bieber’s Los Angeles home -- though they apparently belonged to friend and aspiring rapper, Lil Za -- as part of an unrelated vandalism investigation.

TMZ’s sources insisted Bieber had never tried cocaine.

Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) elects former governor of Bauchi state, Adamu Mu’azu, as its new national chairman.

A reliable source said early Monday morning that Mr. Mu’azu emerged the consensus candidate for the job after a rash of meetings involving President Goodluck Jonathan, PDP governors and other influential chieftains of the party, including Vice President Namadi Sambo and President of the Senate, David Mark.

Mr. Mu’azu, who now replaced Bamanga Tukur, who was forced out of office as a governor for corruptions charges, emerged ahead of Minister of Transport, Idris Umar, a former Minister of Commerce, Idris Waziri, former Acting National Secretary of the party, Musa Babayo, a former party spokesperson, Ahmed Rufai Alkali   and a former minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Ibrahim Bunu, who were all widely reported to have jostled for the position.

A party source Sources say President Jonathan preferred Minister Umar for the position but was outfoxed by governors from the North-East geopolitical zone who all rooted for Mr. Mu’azu.

When Mr. Jonathan tried to insist on Mr. Umar, insiders say, the North-East governors reminded him of how they deferred to him two years ago when he insisted on Mr. Tukur for the position in spite of massive opposition from the zone.

Our sources said Bayelsa state governor, Seriake Dickson, Governor Godswill Akpabio of Akwa Ibom, and President of the Senate, Mr. Mark, joined the North-East governors in pushing that position.

In November 2013, President Jonathan appointed the former Bauchi governor chairman of the Nigerian Pension Commission, PENCOM.

He was appointed to the position even though he is still being investigated for graft by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, for allegedly looting N19.8 billion belonging to his state while he was governor between 1999 and 2007.

It appears Mr. President is so bent on sounding himself with corrupt government officials.

A bloody Save Rivers Movement Rally

Journalists, others attacked by hoodlums on Sunday as another rally turned bloody in River State, Nigeria.

The rally, held in Bori, Khana Local Government Area of Rivers State, was for the inauguration of the executive committee of the SRM in the area.

According to information available as at press time, the hoodlums who disrupted the programme had a free rein as policemen at the venue allegedly did nothing to stop them.

Journalists, who were at the event for reportage, were top on the list of those attacked by the hoodlums.

Just last week, a similar rally by the SRM turned bloody, with Senator Magnus Abe reportedly shot by the police.

Abe is in the United Kingdom receiving treatment for injuries sustained at the venue of the rally.

Obama was once caught with a woman in a compromising position: says the tabloid National Enquirer

It seems that "all is not well" in the 22-year-old marriage between the US President Barack Obama and the First Lady Michelle Obama. According to a news report, the bombshell revelation says that Obama-Michelle are heading towards splitsville soon.

The speculations were first noticed when Obama spent his Christmas and New Year vacations with his two daughters-Sasha and Malia, in Hawaii, sans Michelle.

The tabloid National Enquirer even said that Obama was once caught with a woman "in a compromising position" when Michelle was out of town. The report further says that one of the Secret Service agent saw this but the issue was allegedly "hushed up". Michelle was furious when she came to know about the alleged cover up. 

For now, Michelle is gearing up for a nasty divorce battle. But sources say she'll most likely wait to slap Barack with divorce papers until after he leaves the Oval Office, when he'll likely earn more than $30 million in book deals and bank $65 million in appearance fees.

"Now that Barack has embarrassed Michelle in front of the world, he's going to pay a big, big price," said the insider. "Michelle has said she wants a huge chunk of his net worth.

"This divorce is going to cost him a fortune."

Ghana BBC Presenter, Komla Dumor dies at 41

BBC TV presenter Komla Dumor has died suddenly at his home in London at the age of 41, it has been announced.

Komla joined the BBC African Service in 2007, after more than a decade working as a radio presenter in his native Ghana. He recently became the lead presenter of the BBC's first daily television programme for Africa.

He had a wide-ranging career as an interviewer and presenter - his interviewees included former US President Bill Clinton and the grandson of Nelson Mandela, Ndaba Mandela.

Abacha’s Son, Mohammed to face Trial for Theft

Mohammed Abacha, son of the late former Head of State, General Sani Abacha, to be tried in Abuja High Court. 

A 123 count criminal charges have been brought against him by the Federal Government of Nigeria, wherein he was alleged to be in possession of stolen properties belonging to the Federal Government.

The theft was allegedly committed by the late former dictator stole, when he ruled Nigeria.

Mohammed Abacha had previously unsuccessfully attempted to foil his trial. Then he proceeded to the Court of Appeal, where he lost. Finally, he approached the Supreme Court.

The son of the late ruler declared that the immunity enjoyed by his father, while in office, extended to him and that having forfeited some of the family’s properties confiscated by the government, he should be exempted from prosecution in line with the he provisions of Decree number 53 of 1999.

The Court, however, stated that immunity does not extend beyond the tenure of office and that even if the late head of state were alive, he could have been prosecuted for a criminal offence, not to talk of his son, who has never been a State Leader.
