Why I Denied I Had A Son – Ice Prince

Sometime in march 2012, news made the headline that Iceprice had fathered a child with a 20 year old Bimbo, who was reported to be Jesse Jagz ex- girlfriend,  the Jos-born-singer Ice Prince denied being responsible, only to flaunt his baby, Toluwalase Jamal, months later.

Why I initially denied my baby body.

  • How has fatherhood changed you?
It has taught me to save my money. It is a huge difference and a huge change in lifestyle. You become more matured.

  •  You initially denied having a baby?
It was complicated back then, I didn’t really know what was happening and I wasn’wasn't sure of certain things. So the best I had to do then was denying it and sort out things first. Now I know he is my child and I have done everything as a father ever since.

Am glad you've woken up to your responsibilities :)

Footballer Odartey Lamptey discovers 3 children not his, after 20 yrs of marriage

After over 20 years of marriage, former Ghana International footballer, Nii Ordartey Lamptey, said he recently discovered that all three of the children he thought to have fathered all these years with his wife are not his biological children.
The footballer revealed this during an interview on radio when he was asked why he and his wife were getting divorced.
“I thought they were my children but upon a DNA test, I got to know that they are not my biological children. The issue is in court so I’m pleading, because it is a legal issue I don’t want to go through so many things, but I am 100% sure that the children are not mine after 20-years of marriage.

Egypt: Heavy prison sentence for Islamist women

CAIRO (AP) — Nearly two dozen Islamist women and girls, some as young as 15, were handed heavy prison sentences Wednesday for protesting in a court ruling that came a day after police beat and terrorized prominent female activists in a crackdown on secular demonstrators under a tough new anti-protest law.

The crackdown is rearranging Egypt’s political map after months when authorities were focused on crippling the Muslim Brotherhood and other Islamist backers of ousted President Mohammed Morsi. This is too much on the ladies or what do you think?

Nigerian gov. gives ASUU one week to return to call off the strike

The Federal Government on Thursday gave the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, one week ultimatum to call off the ongoing strike. The government has also asked ASUU to advertise vacancies of striking lecturers if they refuse to return to classroom by next week.

ASUU has been on a nationwide strike since July 1, demanding the implantation of 2009 agreement it had with the government.

The meeting held last week by ASSU NEC, the lecturers resolved to take a definite position on the government’s offer and the strike after meeting President Goodluck Jonathan this week, but the meeting never held. It appears ASSU is demanding much more than the federal government can offer this time.

Niger-Delta armed activist, Mujahid Dokubo-Asari released

According to reports, the defunct Niger Delta People’s Volunteer Force (NDPVF), Alhaji Mujahid Asari-Dokubo, who was arrested in Cotonou, Benin Republic on Tuesday November 2013, has now been released. Sources say his release was as a result of the active intervention of President Goodluck Jonathan. Mr. Festus Keyamo, Asari-Dokubo's lawyer on Wednesday urged the president to intervene directly to "ensure that no harm is done to Asari-Dokubo." Some say the President played a major role in his release as he sent a private jet to bring him back to Nigeria, but we don't know how true that is.

Similarly, members of the Niger Delta People Salvation Front (NDPSF) and NDPVF have condemned what they tagged: unjust and unjustifiable arrest of our leader by the government of Republic of Benin.

Asari Dokubo arrested in Benin Republic

A former Niger Delta militant, Mujahid Dokubo-Asari, was arrested in Cotonou, Benin Republic, Tuesday Afternoon by Beniniose police also known as gendarmes.
According to a statement released by Mr. Dokubo-Asari’s counsel, Festus Keyamo, the former militant who also owns a university in the West African neighbouring country, was picked up sometimes between 1 and 2 p.m. around the Lubeleyi roundabout and taken to an unknown destination.
“We want to emphasise that Alhaji Dokubo-Asari carries on legitimate business and has been living partly in Benin Republic for many years now. In fact, he owns houses, schools and an academy in that country,” a statement by Mr. Keyamo read.
Mr. Keyamo also stated that Mr. Dokubo-Asari’s detention is politically motivated and a bid by unidentified individual working with the Beninoise authorities to “keep him away as 2015 approaches.”
Mr. Dokubo-Asari is a staunch supporter of President Goodluck Jonathan and has promised to make the country ungovernable if the president is not re-elected in the 2015 presidential election.
Mr. Keyamo pleaded with the Nigerian government “to immediately intervene and ensure that no harm befalls Alhaji Dokubo-Asari and to use all diplomatic means to secure his immediate release and safe return to Nigeria.”
Mr. Dokubo-Asari recently adopted Benin Republic citizenship.
“In protest against the inability of Nigeria to grant Ijaw Republic, I have relocated my corporate investments to Benin Republic. Benin is my adopted homeland today,” the Rivers born activist was quoted to have said.
Mr. Dokubo-Asari owns a football club, automobile academies and real estates in Benin Republic. Last October he announced he has established a private university in the country named King Amachree African University. The university plans to commence academic activities next September.
According to the statement released by his lawyer, all his business interests have been searched since he was picked up this afternoon with “nothing incriminating found.”

Sharia police smash 240,000 bottles of beer in Kano

KANO (AFP) – Police enforcing Islamic law in the city of Kano publicly destroyed some 240,000 bottles of beer on Wednesday, the latest move in a wider crackdown on behaviour deemed “immoral” in the area.

The banned booze had been confiscated from trucks coming into the city in recent weeks, said officials from the Hisbah, the patrol tasked with enforcing the strict Islamic law, known as sharia.
Kano’s Hisbah chief Aminu Daurawa said at the bottle-breaking ceremony he had “the ardent hope this will bring an end to the consumption of such prohibited substances”.
A large bulldozer smashed the bottles to shouts of “Allahu Ahkbar” (God is Great) from supporters outside the Hisbah headquarters in Kano, the largest city in Nigeria’s mainly Muslim north.
Kegs containing more than 8,000 litres of a local alcoholic brew called “burukutu” and 320,000 cigarettes were also destroyed.
“We hope this measure will help restore the tarnished image of Kano,” said Daurawa.
Since September, the Hisbah have launched sweeping crackdowns and made hundreds of arrests in Kano following a state-government directive to cleanse the commercial hub of so-called “immoral” practices.
The 9,000-strong moral police force works alongside the civilian police but also has other duties, including community development work and dispute resolution.
Sharia was reintroduced across northern Nigeria in 2001, but the code has been unevenly applied.
Alcohol is typically easy to find in Kano, including at hotels and bars in neighbourhoods like Sabon Gari, inhabited by the city’s sizeable Christian minority.
But the Hisbah boss vowed that this was set to change.
“We hereby send warning to unrepentant offenders that Hisbah personnel will soon embark on an operation into every nook and corner of (Kano) state to put an end to the sale and consumption of alcohol and all other intoxicants,” Daurawa said.
People accused of engaging in prostitution and homosexual sex has been among those arrested in the latest crackdown, along with alleged drunks and drug addicts.
Nigeria is divided between a mostly Christian south and a predominately Muslim north.

Kidnappers of Bayelsa State commissioner’s father demand N98m

Yenagoa, Bayelsa State Nigeria — The kidnappers of Pa Uroh Tempurah, father of Bayelsa State Commissioner for Tourism Development,  Mr. Nelson Belief, have demanded for N98 million ransom to set him free.
The septuagenarian was seized and taken away from his Minibeleu country home in Akassa on the Atlantic fringe of Brass last Wednesday by gunmen.
The heavily armed kidnappers were said to have stormed the coastal settlement in a speedboat at 2.56am and made away with their victim.
It was, however, learnt that the gunmen, who seized the aged man, described “as a man of peace” by his community folks, Monday night contacted his son, Belief, demanding N98 million before he would be set free.
A source close to the family told Vanguard that the kidnappers allowed the old man to speak with his son before they took away the phone from him and made their demand.
The commissioner, who confirmed the development, said: “Yes, I spoke with my father yesterday (Monday).”
He also confirmed the N98 million ransom demand by the kidnappers.
Contacted, the state Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Alex Akhigbe, who confirmed that the kidnappers had established contact with their victim’s family, said the police are on the trail of the kidnappers.
“We have deployed a crack team of operatives from the anti-kidnapping squad to strategic locations in the creek and they are on the trail of the kidnappers. They would be fished out and brought to book,” he said.

Mike Akhigbe, ex-Vice President of Nigeria, is dead.

Mike Okhai Akhigbe is a retired Vice Admiral of the Nigerian Navy. He served as the Vice President of Nigeria during the General Abdusalam Abubakar led military government from 1998 till the termination of military government in Nigeria, in 1999. Born : September 29, 1946  Died: October 28, 2013,

Governor Adams Oshiomhole of Edo expressed gratitude to God for what he used Mr. Akhigbe to do for the country, the state and for himself.

He commended former military Head of State, Abdulsalami Abubakar, and Mr. Akhigbe for their honesty of purpose and courage in handing over power to civilians within a short time in 1999.
Mr. Abubakar and his wife, Fati Abubakar, witnessed the burial.

Garki Hospital Abuja Nigeria Records First kidney Transplant

Doctors at Garki Hospital in Abuja successfully transplanted a kidney into a 19-year-old boy, the first such surgery at the hospital considered Nigeria’s first public-private partnership.
Dr. Nadey Hakim, transplant surgeon at London’s Hammersmith Hospital, and Dr. Elijah Miner, chief medical director at Garki Hospital, led the surgical team which spent hours in a theatre to remove the left kidney of a 42-year-old man before transplanting into the donor’s 19-year-old son diagnosed with end-stage renal disease in a second theatre.
Hakim described the surgery as successful and “fantastic”. “Nice kidney,” he announced after it was removed.
It is the second kidney transplant he’s performed since December when he transplanted a kidney into a 20-year-old boy at View Point Hospital in Abuja.
A second donor gave a kidney for his friend of 35 years. The surgical team worked late into night to complete both surgeries.
Marathon surgeries
A total three kidney transplants were completed by mid-Sunday, and four more open-heart surgeries are scheduled at the hospitals over six days.
The cardiac surgeries will be conducted entirely by Nigerian doctors, said Dr Miner.
But Hakim was chosen to lead the kidney transplant because of his expertise-successfully completing over 2,000 organ transplants and authored papers on the subject.
Dr. Miner defended the choice of Dr. Hakim to lead the team. “It is difficult for our people to trust our own people. And our people don’t deserve any less [than to be operated on by renowned surgeons in the field]. It doesn’t matter whether he’s black or white.”
Up to 30 doctors, nurses and anesthetists monitored the surgery streamed over the internet-along with journalists from major national media organizations providing live coverage on social media.
Beating cost
Garki is using the surgeries to show Nigerian doctors can handle delicate, cutting edge surgeries patients normally travel abroad for.
Like in an earlier surgery in July to close a hole in the heart of two-year-old Joanna-who had a congenital heart defect-Garki is having to bear some treatment cost.
“There is too much capital flight going out of the country. What we want is to start doing these things in the country and hopefully in time with government support we can even bring down the prices as low as some of the countries people go to,” said Dr. Miner.
Kidney transplants in Nigeria cost up to N4.5 million-and experts estimate that managing chronic kidney disease with dialysis for 18 months alone could cost the same as a transplant.

Why self-medication is harmful

Taking a dose of your own medicine is not always a good idea. It can leave you with a bad stomach at the best and in an emergency ward at the worst

Got a headache? Will pop an analgesic. Fever too? An antipyretic will do. Throat ache? Oh, I need an antibiotic. How many times have you heard people doing this? If the answer is often, they could well be getting into a habit of self-medication—like a whole lot of other educated people who feel it is fine to pop a pill without a doctor’s instructions.
Many of you may not be aware, but these well-meaning drugs are not without side-effects and can play havoc with your system if taken without professional advice. Always see a doctor or pharmacist before popping a pill.

Nigeria Plan Sale of Four State-Owned Oil Refineries Next Year

DIEZANI ALISON - MADUEKE, PETROLEUM MINISTER

Nigeria, Africa’s largest oil producer, plans to begin privatizing its four state-owned oil refineries before the end of the first quarter, Petroleum Minister Diezani Alison-Madueke said.
“We would like to see major infrastructural entities such as refineries moving out of government hands into the private sector,” she also said “Government do not want to be in the business of running major infrastructure entities and we haven't done a very good job at it over all these years.”

A presidential audit of the facilities last year recommended their sale due to inadequate government funding and “sub-optimal performance.” The refineries, which have a combined 445,000 barrel-a-day capacity, should be privatized within 18 months, according to the report submitted to President Goodluck Jonathan in November 2012.

Breaking News Boeing 737 crash in Russia kills 50

Official: 50 dead in Russian airliner crash

MOSCOW (AP) — A Russian passenger airliner crashed Sunday night while trying to land at the airport in the city of Kazan and officials said all 50 people aboard were killed.
The Boeing 737 belonging to Tatarstan Airlines crashed about 7:20 p.m. local time (1520 GMT; 10:20 a.m. EST). There were no immediate indications of what may have caused the crash. Weather in the city soon after the crash was reported to be light precipitation and winds of about 8 meters per second (18 mph).
Kazan is about 720 kilometers (450 miles) east of Moscow, where the flight originated.
A spokeswoman for the Emergencies Ministry, Irina Rossius, said there were 44 passengers and six crew members aboard and all had been killed.
Russia's last plane crash came in January, when a Russian-made Tupolev belonging to Red Wings airline careered off the runway at Moscow's Vnukovo airport, rolled across a snowy field and slammed into the slope of a nearby highway, breaking into pieces and catching fire. Investigators say equipment failure caused the crash, which killed five people.
