THE North-East chapter of the Christian Association of
Nigeria (CAN) may have thrown its weight behind former Vice-President Atiku
Abubakar’s defection to the All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the 2015
general election.
A prominent source, who spoke with BBON, “we in the
Christian Association of Nigeria, North-East chapter support the defection of
the former vice-president from the PDP to the APC. To us, it is a welcome
development. Atiku Abubakar has the credentials and genuine commitment to
foster the unity of Nigeria as a whole.”
When contacted, the Public Relations Officer of the
North-East chapter of CAN, Mr Jonathan Sambo, confirmed the development, saying
that Atiku actually consulted the Christian body during his recent consultative
meetings with stakeholders across the country over whether or not to defect to
the APC.
