27 members of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, at the
Sokoto State House of Assembly have defected to the All Progressives Congress,
APC.
It was brought to light that 27 of the 30 lawmakers dumped
the ruling party for the opposition Wednesday morning.
Chairman of the House Committee on Information, Malam
Basakkwace, stated that the members decided to defect to the APC in support of
the state governor, Aliyu Wamakko, one of the five governors that recently
defected to the APC.
“We are moving in line with the decision of his Excellency,
Governor Aliyu Wamakko who has since moved to the APC,” he said.
The defectors include the Speaker of the Assembly and other
top principal officials in the state.
