The Nigeria Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers
(NUPENG), and the Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria
(PENSASSAN), declared on Tuesday that they would commence a total and
indefinite strike as from the first week of January, 2014.
The two trade unions
in the oil and gas sector of the economy were protesting the declaration by the
Minister of Petroleum, Diezani Madueke and the decision by the Federal
Government to sell the refineries by the first quarter of next year.
